This 111-piece stained glass panel is an original design for Remembrance Day, which is an annual Canadian holiday that honors the veterans of the country's Armed Forces each November 11th. This piece depicts a wreath of 12 poppies surrounding the stylized maple leaf that is the centerpiece of the Canadian national flag.
The poppies alternate between granite and waterglass style red glass to allow the individual blossoms to be more easily distinguished. These textures also change their appearance as the viewer's point of view shifts, which adds vibrancy to an otherwise largely monochromatic theme.
